The photo to the right is of an eliptical arch pass through wall that GHS built to replace an existing solid wall that seperated the kitchen from the Great room. This 'open' wall really helped the house flow and feel much bigger and friendlier! The columns, the applied moldings and the crown molding, and the eliptical arch are all fabricated in wood.

...The photo below is a fireplace facade that GHS built to 'dress up' an existing fireplace. The wood used was poplar, a moderately priced hardwood and a good choice mimicking cherry, mahogany or walnut hardwoods with the application of specialty dye stains and glazes. On this fireplace surround we used a cherry dye stain with a cherry glaze to create and aged cherrywood effect and then clear coated with a very organic looking catalyed lacquer topcoat. The inset portion is faux multi-colored slate, which looks very realistic and a natural black slate hearth.
